We also experienced our first Tsunami warning! Civil Defense Alarms going off every hour from 9pm till 2am. It was very interesting and alarming. We live in the middle of the island, about 900 ft above sea level. Although we weren't concerned about any individual damage, e were still up watching the news to "watch" the Tsunami make it's way to our home, Hawaii! Living on an island brings concerns, maybe not of shoveling snow and concerns of ice storms, but if the Tsunami hit as predicted and the ports were damaged, how long would it take for food to arrive onthe island after what was here was gone? A little scary! Bread and water were off the shelves by midnight in our town! The island of Oahu had some damage but nothing as damaging as predicted and clearly nothing as terrible and tragic as Japan!
Chris has been busy getting things moving with work! He hope to have an office to soon, which I know makes him excited and me too (because all his work "stuff" can get out of the house)!! Chris loves his work and as we all know, when we do what we love it's no longer a job. I love all that he is doing for us as a family it makes my heart happier that he thoroughly enjoys it!
Greta is learning something new every day. From "dada" to "mommom" to saying the sound of owl "ooooo" , cat "ow", saying ball "bah" (which is the same name for bird, and tree, and flower)....and standing by the fridge and front door trying to tell us she's hungry and wants to go outside "ousshhhiii". She loves playdate's with her friends. We have been spending a lot of time at the zoo due to the wet weather at the parks and she is starting to really see the animals and interact- so FUN! She's getting sooo tall and growing fast! She is truly our little hoot, always full of smiles, saying "hi, hi, hi, hi" to everyone!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I OVERANALYZE everything. I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said that transitioning from working full time to staying at home was easy. Work, even the stress, was fulfilling. I think as women we want to do it all! There was a lot of pride in my work. Being a stay at home has always been a dream too! I really didn't expect to be reintroduced to my insecurities and self doubts. The cool thing I FINALLY GET IT! Spending time home with Greta is so precious and I don't want to change that for a second! Thankfully I have great friends, although far away, to help keep me grounded! Sure, I desire to give back, to volunteer, to be a part of doing something tangible for our community! But, I have a lot of time to do that, right now I'm enjoying being a mom! (now, remind me of this when I get off base again).
Thanks to our friend Donna for this family pic!
