Need More Time?
Does anybody need more time in their day? I think I'm gonna invent a new time system that is based on the metric system. None of this 60/60/24/7/365 business. My time system is gonna be based on one number: 10. Motivations behind this new system include the following: I never have enough time in my day, there is too much time spent at work, not enough time spent on hobbies and exercise and such, and I always seem to be tired (mostly due to erratic schedule but hang with me here).
Oh, and also I have trouble reading a clock that has only hands. It requires thinking and interpreting and the like. I like a straight-up digital readout that plainly spells what time it is (actually for the sake of this post I made that argument, but I actually like the clocks with hands much better - they are classic and elegant)
My system won't be messing around with any of that AM/PM business, just what time you see is what time you get. There would be 100 seconds in a minute, 100 minutes in an hour, 10 hours in a day. 10 Days in a month, and awwww forget about it, this system takes way too much thought to think up. I make a motion to stick with the current system.

I Want A MacBook Pro
I really want one of these, bad.......
I feel that my life would be taken to another level (don't mistake this as me bitching about my current state of being - because it is quite splendid), but rather, this toy would be a hell-of-a-lotta fun. Music and photos and videos and webbing would be probably on the order of 1,000,000,000,000,000 times better with this machine than with any Windows-based PC (which are all seeming to be pieces of junk these days). Down with Bill Gates (I just want to see how long until this Dell crashes after dissing him, cause I know he's somehow watching and knowing. Bill - I know what that "critical security update" patch really was....)
But really - if someone wants to be generous and get me the 17" MacBook Pro, I would be eternally grateful.

Flea Market was the Bomb!
We scored some goodies at the Flea Market this weekend! 4 LP's (Elton John, Allman Bros, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan) for $15 and a huge mirror with wooden frame for $7. All the records are in great shape - they are getting fully listened to instead of being put in a frame on the wall, although they would all look quite nice on a wall of records.
Also had a campfire at Erin's Saturday night - the temp was in the high 50's and it was fantastic to be in front of a fire. We cannot wait for the fall to be in full effect (other than that we will be married on October 6 followed by Jamaica for 6 days). Wow, actually it's less than 7 weeks till the big day - rollin' like a freight train at full steam.

Back to the ROC this weekend
Naomi and I are going back to the ROC this weekend! Can't wait to be back home. I wanna hit up Lakeshore and/or Record Archive, go to Wegmans, Avon Flea Market, and so much more that I won't have time to do. Most of all, I wanna see family and friends which we plan to do plenty of.

Great Art
Been tipped off to some great art for very affordable... Can't wait to pick some up for the currently bare walls in the apartment.
Dobbs Ferry Waterfront
Finally went down to the waterfront (aside from getting on a train) and walked around a bit with Naomi and Bryce. You can see NYC to the south and the Tappan Zee to the north and there is a park with grills and benches and such, quite nice really. I feel that spending more time down there is a good thing.
Daft Punk @ Coney Island
There's nothing else I can say about this show except SIIIIIIICCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!! One of the best shows ever....
Oh wait, one more thing I can say about it...

Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem
What's real nice about NYC is the Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem. Naomi and I went into the city today to run an errand in Chinatown and then take a walk around Central Park. We came in the University Heights bridge and drove all the way down Broadway, through Harlem, stopping by to snap this picture for her dad (who hails from Syracuse, the home of Dinosaur BBQ). Parking anywhere near Central Park is a biznitch, it took 20 minutes to find a spot, but once inside the park, it's easy to forget you are in the middle of Manhattan.

Last.fm is broken
My Last.fm seems to be broken. The music I listen to seems to be scrobbling properly but when I check the website, the songs have not posted properly. I also updated my embedded player but the songs are not showing up. Oh magical mystery gnome of the interwebs, please fix this issue I beg of you....
Smashing Pumpkins
Spin magazine had a free "Myspace Tribute to the Smashing Pumpkins" CD with the July issue. I must put in my 2 cents here and declare that... There is NO substitute for the Smashing Pumpkins! In no way can they be altered, covered, mirrored, sliced, diced, chopped, minced, or scalloped and even come close to the original thing. No ifs, and, or butts about it. Siamese Dream through Mellon Collie is about as good as it gets. Having not listened to the Pumpkins in quite some thyme, I saw the mag on the rack at the airport and had to buy it. All these bands are great bands and do a good job covering, but my ears longed for Billy, Jimmy, D'arcy, and James.
I had a great discussion with T-Jo about them a couple weeks back and the merits of how loud the new album is, and how our old balls selves are into more mellow music these days. I wasn't such a fan of the later electronic-based stuff, but Gish, Siamese Dream, Pisces Iscariot, and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness certainly bring down the house.
Actually this tribute album is very good, just no substitute for the original.....
